Hey folks,

What's the most common drivetrain creak? I've had my LBS examine the bike with no success. Under torque (mostly on the driveside stroke), I get a metal-on-metal tick/creak. Should I take everything apart, clean, grease, and re-install? My LBS probably did most of that. I'll check the chainrings again....but should I be looking into replacing the BB?

I'm running a Truvativ bracket with FSA cranks....anyone have problems in the past?

Thanks,
Damian

There are many possible cause of a creak. The most common cause is something not being fully tightened. If there is creaking, it is likely there are two things rubbing against one another. It can be useful to have a friend stress the cranks while you listen and feel for the creak. Try to isolate the noise if possible.

Just a note: It's not the pedals, and the creaking us only under unbalanced load (torque on one arm or the other, not both at the same time).

campy or shimano? if it's campy, check to make sure the freehub splines have been greased.
