Hincapie is out of the main field.

No. He finished with Zabriskie. He can't hang on in the mountains.

I think 4 disco riders finished in the main pack: Gusev, Contador, Popo, Levi. A good day for disco.

Professional trick. He's saving himself for tomorrow. Look for something big on sunday, either he'll go for a stage win or help launch leiphiemer. Write it down.

I thing George's drop was intentional to save something for a bigger day - todays stage was just a feeling out process.

Write it down! :)

Let's start a new thread about that.

I'm sitting at work just looking at the results, knowing only alittle bit about the stage profile and my immediate thought about Hincapie was that he's saving himself for something bigger, tomorrow or maybe on a lumpy stage later on. I think that he's all about stage hunting these days, and quite frankly, I love that. He'd be a force to reckon with.

Any comments on Salvodelli finishing even further back? Again, I didn't watch the stage yet. Do you think that he's saving himself too?

Good for Tricky Beltran, BTW, it's good to see him going so well.

he couldn't hold the tempo. is that such a shock?

George didn't look like he was hurting when he dropped back so that theory makes sense...especially with tommorow looming and then a rest day. Salvodelli though looked like he wanted to be anywhere but on his bike today...i don't think he was playing possum

That was disappointing. I don't think finishing 61st place on a climbing stage was the plan for the day.

He wasn't feeling well enough so drop back for another day.

His opportunities now lie in a breakaway. With him far behind on the GC, they'll let him go now. But then, he really should be beside Levi, Contador and Popovych. He's one of the best to watch over them launch them to the final climb.

As far as him launching an attack on a big hill with the best climbers, not in the cards.

he, he, he. this is the church of hincapie.

Possum theories and covert intentions are rampant.

He was in the break, cracked almost as soon as the they hit the final climb and went backwards and eventually thru the favorite's peloton.

True, the armchair quarterbacking can start. I'm hoping he did it intentionally to save energy so he can help Levi. I'm fine w/ a loan breakaway, but not at the expense of Levi... maybe it will depend on how well Levi rides????

At any rate, it's fun to daydream and play DS tactics in my own little TdF fantasy world! Maybe dreams will come true.

I would love to see him win a stage and it is possible but he is no spring chicken anymore. I hope he understands his job and I am sure he does after helping Lance all those years. Divscovery has been painfully quiet so far this year and even today you didn't notice them very much. Hincappie was in an early break that was caught immediately and then Martinez was in the break that held. He should have been alright but completely fell apart on the final climb and then couldn't even hold the back of the main peleton. That was dissappointing. Levi, Popovich, Contador, and Gusev looked strong and hopefully will be able to do well tomorrow going into the rest day. It should be exciting. I have always liked Levi but it will be a tall order for him to win the Tour.

George wouldn't dare "Do a Floyd" tomorrow as the French won't understand and they'll fix his pee sample to make it test positive. Trust me on this.
