Cyclingnews: "Triple world champion Oscar Freire had started the day third in the points standings and fifth overall, but decided to call it quits due to his ongoing undercarriage problems."

Seriously when was the last time this guy didn't have a problem...er...um...down there? If I'm not mistaken he's been having problems with saddle sores / cysts for a few years now. Is he wearing the same pair of unwashed shorts over and over again? One would think that he would get it taken care of - different shorts, saddle, more personal solutions - so he could be a consistent contender.

He's really just allergic to the mountains. :cryin:

He's a pretty good climber, for a sprinter, actually.

I doubt that he hasn't tried to remedy the saddle sore issue,I mean, those things are really uncomfortable, on and off the bike.

It's a shame he's gone. He's a real character and one of the only guys who doesn't use a power meter.
