A word of caution about Performance's "free shipping" offers. I was going to order a wheelset from them, but they did not qualify for free shipping. If they consider something oversize, the offer does not apply.

Anybody who is not a UNC fan gets free shipping on wheels though.

If you guys are lucky enough to have a Performance Bike near you, you might want to check them out. I was at the Laguna Hills, CA location over the weekend and got $25 off $50 or more purchase by giving them my email address.

I decided to go ahead and order a wheelset from Performance since they were on sale and even with the shipping cost it was a great price. I placed the order and one day later get an email from Performance saying their Ultegra/Open Pro wheels are backordered until October. So I drive over to the local Perf shop and they have plenty of these wheels in stock, but wouldn't sell for the web price. I went ahead and bought them anyway because they give 10% discount on all items during Tuesday lunch hours, and the price was still reasonable.

Bottom line, Performance doesn't make anything easy for you, but you can still get some decent deals some time -- particularly if you don't mind waiting 3-4 months.

If you had a print out of the web wheelset price..they have to match...

That sucks. My local Performance will usually price match even if I don't have the print out. You should go back and demand it. You could have gotten the web price plus the Tuesday lunch hour 10%.
