View Full Version : Best time to sell cross frame/parts?

Since I built up my cross bike in late winter, my wife has decided to go back to school. I can't justify keeping the cross rig around when my fall/winter for the next few years will be spent watching the kids and not riding or racing. There's that and the fact that I've started racing on the track and I'm tired of using the rentals.

I assume September or October would be the better months to sell? Am I correct? Also, is it better to sell the frame and fork separate?

Sorry for all the questions. It is a singlespeed so its already a bit of a niche within a niche so I want be sure I do things right when I sell this one.

Thanks

I'm thinking soon. People are starting to get the itch and getting things ready for the season. I'm going to put my XO1 up soon; within the next week or 2. I'd sell the f/f as a unit. But that's just me.

I'd second doing it now or in the next few weeks. Get people while cross season is looming.....
That being said, anyone want to buy a 48cm Redline Conquest F/F & headset? :D

kram59 what size is your xo1? and how tall are you?

judging from how quick cross specific stuff is going on qbp and the cost of tubbies going up on ebay, I'd say now is a great time.

Thanks guys! If anyone is looking for a singlespeed 56cm Rock Lobster with Surly Fork and FSA headset, let me know. Will also have Shimano BR550 brakes to sell as well.

I really tried hard to resist spamming!

FWIW I sold a Cannondale cross frame on ebay today. I did not get what I wanted for it but who does? Last fall I put it up as a complete bike and got no bids. This year I decided to sell the frame first then the parts. I think that is a better bet. So, yeah, I have stuff to sell now too.

Might consider selling it complete as selling a SS specific cross wheelset can get difficult.

PRICES AND SIZES???

A 48cm Redline.... hmmmmmm.. That might work..... I just purchased a cheap frame, but I haven't built it yet, so I'm still open to deals....

Before this thread gets shut down for selling bikes outside of the classifieds...I just ordered a new cross bike and will be selling off my current bike - 2005 Cannondale, size 56 (57 ETT). I'll be switching a few minor parts around from the new bike....but if anyone is interested - email me

Interesting thought...

The wheelset is nothing special, just a track hub respaced to 130 with a 105 hub up front on WTB Dual Duty rims. I was thinking of keeping them for a later track build.
