I love his combination of retro style with modern manufacturing. Especially that second one.

beautiful, but way too much $$ for what they are. The Major Taylor even has to use a drum brake because of those powdercoated rims.

ANT may be my favorite bike-maker. He presents an amazing combination of the ancient and modern. The stuff costs a mint, though.
I'll gladly pay a mint for lugged stuff but tig welded?
I think not.
Nice designs though.

Yeah, that's the paradox for me... there's no way I could convince myself to pay that much for a tig welded frame, but I also have a hard time leaving a custom lugged bike out in the rain.
Looks like it's kogswell for me... that, or I'll keep making Llednevirs out of old Trek MTBs...

I like both lugged and tig--have several nice examples of both. I consider my tig Ibis Mojo to be just as beatiful as my lugged Merckx. I can't really see buying a new lugged bike unless it has those Sachs lugs. But I really love the looks of these ANT bikes.

For a while there was a local bike shop that posted 3 or 4 ANT bikes on the boston craigslist for really low prices (like sub$1000 for the entire bike and i think $500 for a mtn bike)
I was tempted, but ended up not doing it and now regret it. I still check the boston bike craigslist and if the deal comes up again I'll post it up here.

Different folks work in different mediums (media?) A nice TIG-welded frame is a beautiful thing! And it removes many of the design restrictions that lugs impose. I'm sure you can see where those example ANT bikes could not have been built if the builder had been restricted to using exclusively lugged joints (or at least not unless they invested bazillions of dollars in tooling to create the lugs). Well, okay... maybe the brown one could've been strictly a lugged machine, but different folks join steel in different ways.
Vive la difference!
