We spent the 4th of July week in San Francisco and Monterey. We rented bikes one day and biked to Carmel along 17 mile drive. Here's the pictures.

Wow, did you go down to Big Sur, too?

I was stationed in Monterey while in the military, and loved EVERY MINUTE. Perfect weather year-round, smooth roads, gorgeous scenery, (mostly) bike-friendly citizens- it's a roadie's paradise!

Yes, but in the car. Highway One didn't look like anything to ask an 11 year old to tackle on a bike. Even that last couple of miles of 17 Mile Drive into Carmel was a little tight for a kid her age. She rode it confidently none the less, so I was proud of her.

Just so you know......

Your daughter rocks!

Even if she doesn't keep riding as she gets older the parent units are setting a great example.

I'd 2nd that vote.

I've never done any scientific survey, but it seems as though a huge % of the lady cyclists/hikers that I've known have had fathers who started their interest in the sport.
