I found an old CCM frame a few months ago and promptly went ahead and stripped it and treated it to a dip in the phosphate tank at work to prevent any rust.

The frame has lingered there until this week and I finally pulled the trigger and took her over to our paint shop and painted her a fiery shade of red cause I heard that red bikes go faster and because II didn't have a red bike.

I weighed the frame after I painted it and was pleased and surprised to find that with the BB cups it tipped the scale at a mere 5 pounds...at one time CCM made some superb franes.

I took the frame over the shop after work with the intent of finding a fork and ended up completing the build and riding her home. The wheelset came from a 1964 CCM who's frame had been damaged beyond repair and these would allow me to mount a front rim brake to augment what is a very powerful coaster brake..

I wanted a poor man's club bike as back in the day, when you couldn't afford an off the shelf model, you built up your own.

So here she is... I still need to find some vintage pedals, rivet in the headbadge, and repaint that beautiful Ishiwata fork I scavenged.

The bike rides like a dream on those 28's and the gearing is a 46:18 which seems just about perfect for a vintage racer.

This CCM joins my 1933 CCM which is next in line and will be getting a full restoration.

My 1933 CCM... it's mechanically perfect and is also a great riding bike but now needs to be as pretty as her new sister.

Oh yeah...there's a Brooks B17 just waiting to go on the bike as the saddle on the bike is just a loaner from the bike shop I work in.
