I am going to be in Tahoe City this weekend and I was thinking about taking the road bike instead of the mountain bike this time. Does anyone know any good 20-30 mile rides with maybe some climbing and views? Thanks.

Ok,

If you want to ride from T.C. you have 2 options.... My choice would be to ride north on 89 to Truckee, then follow the North Shore of Donner Lake and climb Old Donner Summit. Great Climb !!!

Second choice would be to follow the North shore of Tahoe to King Beach and then climb Brockway Summit (267). Not as scenic of a climb, but big nonetheless.

Driving options would include Henness Pass Rd. to Jackson Meadows (17 miles north of Truckee on 89 - a Great Ride...., Boca to Stampede ~ 8 miles east of Truckee off 80, or heading south to Markleeville ~ 1.5 hours south on 89 for Monitor and Ebbetts passes... definitely more intense climbing, but if you're up for it it is unsurpassed !!!

If you want a really good view, ride south towards Emerald Bay. Not much beats that for scenery, and the ride has some good moderate climbs. Traffic on 89 around the lake can be hectic at times, but it's not too bad overall.

You can also go north on 89 to Incline Village and climb Mt Rose (8900ft at the top) and then turn around and head bacl - about 30-40 miles in total, and Mt Rose is a 2600ft climb at about 5%.
