Maybe he shouldn't have done it then. This was to make up for the free pass he got in California earlier this year anyway. All is fair in love, and grand tour riding. JohnnyChance 07-28-2007, 08:27 PM but maybe without the pacing, he would would have had to work even harder to catch back up to the peloton, used too much energy, lost lots of time, and not even be on the podium. cheddarlove 07-28-2007, 08:44 PM Shure sux to be sitting 8 seconds behind the rider in front of you when you got penalized 10 seconds for motorpacing earlier in the Tour. It boggles the mind!! I wonder if he rested his chin in his hand and looked up towards the sky and thought"hmmm..I wonder!" Steve D 07-28-2007, 08:46 PM He also lost a 16 second time bonus to Rasmussen. turbogrover 07-28-2007, 09:17 PM Shure sux to be sitting 8 seconds behind the rider in front of you when you got penalized 10 seconds for motorpacing earlier in the Tour. It sucks more when adults can't spell properly. LL was getting pushed back up to the group by the team car! He was correctly penalized! He's lucky there wasn't a stiffer penalty. waitforme 07-28-2007, 11:30 PM He also lost a 16 second time bonus to Rasmussen. Wouldn't that be eight seconds of bonuses he missed out on? 1st gets 20sec and 2nd gets 12? But then Cadel would have been third in that stage so he would have picked up 8 secs in time bonuses too. So if you took Rasmussen out of that stage (16), Levi would have saved another 8 secs, Cadel 8 secs and Contador 4 (for coming 2nd and not third). So if Rasmussen ins't counted for that stage GC still stands (with Condator picking up a few extra seconds). barbedwire 07-29-2007, 12:36 AM Levi is lucky that he was ONLY penalized 10 seconds. After his mechanical problem, and switching bikes, Johan leans out the window and is literally pulling Levi back up to the peloton by grabbing hold of his seatpost while the driver is accelerating. That usually warrants a much greater penalty than 10 seconds. Later, Johan lies and says that he was adjusting Levi's seatpost. Big Bad Wolf 07-29-2007, 03:21 AM He should have ridden faster up the mountains but that he couldn't .. same goes for Cadel. I think the result is pretty much fair. Barring the fact that Rasmussen should have been there of course. Fadgett 07-30-2007, 06:48 AM Do the crime, do the time !!! Einstruzende 07-30-2007, 06:51 AM Do the crime, do the time !!! Agreed, but let's keep in mind that playing "what if" is rather pointless. "If" Rasmussen hadn't been allowed to start, then the whole race and tactics would have been different from the first mountain stage on. rensho 07-30-2007, 10:19 AM Levi is lucky that he was ONLY penalized 10 seconds.
