I have a 1988 Guericiotti steel frame that I am converting from old 6-7 speed freewheel to campy 10 speed cassette. The rear lugs spacing is at 128+mm so it's not a problem mounting a 130mm wheel there. I already have and it shifts with the original friction shifters with no problems. I installed a record ud chain and chrous cassette and so far it shifts with only a minor hiccup at the 12 tooth cog with an 1990's era chrous rear derrilleur. So lets get to my Question. I now want to convert the 1" threaded steerer fork to the new 31.6mm dia bars/stem setup and remove the old quill style wedge bolt with 26.6 mm bars. I have additionally purchased the chorus shifters from nashbar at the recent sale. Please help with companies or sources for the steerer conversion.

Why?

Mount the Chorus ergo shifters on the bars you have.

The old bars are 40cm and I would like to go wider with the bars. I have a bar that is 44cm and the larger dia.

You will be better off to buy a bar in the width you want in the smaller diameter (26.0 or 26.4 ?)

If you want to go with the larger diameter and threadless stem you will have to use a threadless stem adapter in the current fork/headset which personally I think looks ugly and is heavy,

or, you will have to replace the headset with a threadless headset and you will then have to replace the fork with one designed for use with threadless sytems ( ie - a non-threaded fork).

Much cheaper and easier ( and better looking) to simply get a wider bar in the current diameter.

Justy won an auction from Ital-tech. I have ordered from hime before the bars I won on his ebay store are the right dia 26.4 and 42 c2c width. Only paid 20.51 for a genuine cinelli and anatomical shape also.

Thanks
