Hello gang,

I am currently looking to replace my R500 (1992) Cannondale with a newer bike. I like the Caad8 and Caad9 for price and availability in my $ range. So where is this going you ask?? Well heres my question, I see that there is a Seven on Ebay that might stay in my price range:

Can you tell me how this might compare to a Caad9? Since all Sevens are custom fit to the original owner daoes that mean there is no standard for comparision? Is this modle a good race bike? What is the weight like?

Thank you.

Well as it turns out I am only an hour from the bike in the listing so I went there to check it out. Wow it was nice, weighted in at 17.8 lbs was in great condition. Unfortunately the stand over was a little too tall...

I am guessing that since every Seven is made to order that any thought of buying one would only work out if there is the possibility to try it first.

Ask him what weight rider it was designed for and the specifications for stiffness, etc. You can print out the Custom Kit questionnaire and determine the many criteria they ask about.

As a proud owner of an Axiom ti bike (actually also a 2002 like this listing) I would tell you not to fret too much about the custom nature of Seven bikes. Yes, nominally they ask you before building how stiff or compliant you want the ride to be, yadda yadda, but we're talking about within a Princess-and-the-Pea narrow zone. And where, as here, you can get the geometry info, I think it is a fine online purchase.

$2000 actually seemed a little high... I was surprised about that. But eBay bidding can really get folks' competitive juices flowing, soooo...
