I have a set of 2005 Mavic K's that I bought new last year.I figured I would ask this question here.If I have the bike on the work stand and put it in my 53X11(or any other large gear)and spin it over really fast the rear wheel starts to freewheel then it starting loading the chain up so much that it makes the crank turn.
It turns the cranks at a relatively low cadence. However,it only does this when it is free wheeling at high speeds. This became an issues on a recent trip I took to the Boone area of NC when I was tucked in decending at 45+.It was trying to push the chain forward as I was holding the crank still. It ended up causing the chain to almost fall off.
Since I came back I decided to servic the free hub.Once I looked at it it was obvious that it needed to be replaced.I replaced it,cleaned everything and re-lubed it.
With all that said, could this problem be anything other than the bearings dragging?Anyone have any similar issues? These wheels have done the "trick" on the workstand since new but I just over looked it.However, the fact that I could have had a nasty fall because of this now has me motivated to fix this.
I can put a new set of bearings in it but wanted to see if anyone else has had something similar to this and it be something besides the bearings or free hub.
