I am a newbie looking for my first bike for triathlons and general cycling. I want an entry level bike but want to buy something that will keep me happy for a little while. I found a LBS that I really like but they carry mainly Cannondale's (starting at $1,100) and higher end bikes, nothing more entry level (like $600-800). I like the Cannondale but haven't really read or heard much about them. Can I get some thoughts about this bike?

Also, any thoughts about Giant?

You can't go wrong with either the Cannondale or the Giant. Give both a test ride and see what you think. Assuming that you are looking at an aluminum bike, Cannondale has a fantastic reputation. Again, can't go wrong with either. Buy the one that looks the best if they both feel the same!
