The bike is an early to mid 70s Schwinn sport tourer, with a welded on kickstand. I don't intend to remove the housing, just the stand. It has a small pin or something on the bottom, and I dont know if I need to drill it out or what. Any suggestions?

take it to your local bike shop. they have a special tool that releases the spring tension so the pin can be removed.
