View Full Version : Is Cycling4all Pulling the Plug?
bornin53 08-14-2007, 06:03 AM I just went to http://www.cycling4all.com/ and he seems to be saying he is closing the site.
Here is an excerpt:
And than, after months of hesitation about what to do with my website, at a certain moment it is enough.
And that is NOW.
Because, I am totally flabbergasted and frustated, that nobody is taking any action to save the sport I loved, on the contrary, nearly all (highest) authorities are still going on and even intensifying their activities which are killing the cycling sport as soon as possible.
Finally I want to thank all who have helped and supported me in the past 9 years, and ........
FondriestFan 08-14-2007, 06:39 AM Can't say I blame the guy.
I love this sport, but it's a complete joke. Vuelta a Espana? Come on. That race is one big dope-fest.
Dwayne Barry 08-14-2007, 06:46 AM That's been my first choice for cycling info. website for years. I always found it odd for a European that the guy running it seems to have been sorta clueless about the doping and became really disillusioned over the years. Real shame.
mohair_chair 08-14-2007, 07:04 AM It used to be a good site, but the guy is so incredibly opinionated now, it has become almost worthless as anything other than a wacky blog.
MikeBiker 08-14-2007, 08:20 AM Didn't he pull the plug a few years ago and then restarted it a short time later?

Yeah I recall something like that.

Yep, there is nothing worse than opinions.
mtbbmet 08-15-2007, 12:30 PM That site used to be good. Now you have to filter through all the anti-doping crap to find any news. Why does he care so much about doping? Was he "almost pro" at some point but couldn't make the leap cause he would have to dope and now he's bitter? Who knows. His site has been pissing me off for a while though. Mostly stopped with it all together.

RTFA. he's not a bitter "almost pro", rather he's someone who invested a lot of his own time and energy into coverage of a sport he enjoyed as a spectator and watched it become over run with dopers and their apologists.

It's more like he finally found out Santa Claus isn't real, and he's focusing his bile on Christmas. His bitterness has made the content useless.

Umm... watched a Grand Tour lately?
mtbbmet 08-16-2007, 05:37 AM my point is, doping has been a part of sport since there was sport. It will always be a part of it no matter how much we want to belive that pro athletes are clean. It gets worse when money gets involved. But you don't have to be making the cash to be on the program. Non pro athletes dope all the time. Juniors dope. Masters dope. Amatures dope. If you showed up at a local Tuesday night crit and made everyone pee in a cup I think you would be surprised at the results. It's human nature to try to find the easy way to acheive the same results, it's what puts us on top of the food chain. The fact that this guy is now fed up with cycling because of all the doping that has been going on lately irks me. It has always been happening, there is no more doping going on now than there was 20 years ago, or even 50 years ago. WADA and the UCI are just getting better at the testing. But don't worry, the pro's will soon start switching to something that is still undetectable and all these "current doping problems" will go away for another 5-6 years.
eyebob 08-20-2007, 10:17 AM and i found it pretty informative. I take all that i read with a grain of salt, so-to-speak, so the content, while skewed isn't totally without merit.
