I am trying to find a retailer who carries the traditional kind: white cotton crochet back, peferably with world champion stripes, tan or black unpadded real leather palm. Some come close, but do not make it all the way: the Planet Bike Taurus, Canari Paceline and Nashbar Crochet.
Ideas anyone?

i would love to find me some gloves like i had in the late 80's - i can't stand gloves with gel. i want an unpadded leather glove - i couldn't get my hand into the Castelli's so they are out.

I lost my favorite pair last year when I set them on top of my car when getting back to the parking area, and then drove off (note to self: never set something on top of the car "just for a minute" when loading up). Anyway, Nashbar had theirs on sale recently for $4.99 a pair so I ordered a couple pairs. The ones I lost were also from Nashbar, but maybe they've changed them over the years.

Might post in Retro and see if the guys who post down there no where you could pick up some NOS gloves. Also, this may sound weird but have you looked in some of the car magazines at driving gloves. I have seen some that look very similar to the old gloves. I just can't think about which mag I saw them in.

Giant makes some for, like, $10 or $15.

A little ingenuity and you can chnage the Giant label.

Or maybe Nashbar didn't, since I just noticed you mentioned that. But try www.rivbike.com

Trek makes them too--although the last time I tried to buy some at the LBS, they were only in black, not tan. I still like them.

Back in the day I rode with crochet backed cycling gloves. They left a weird "waffle" tan on the back of my hand. I walked into a bike shop and the employee pointed to the back of my hands and said "we give 10% off for 'real' cyclists".
"Really?" I said.
"Just kidding". Oh, snap.

Gore Bike Wear recently released a set of white retros that got great reviews from a site (I think roadcycling.uk).
I where GBW bibs and love them, I am sure the gloves are great too. Not sure where to purchase them though.
