I'm thinking of getting into tri's but before I go hog wild, I figure I'll modify my road bike and see how things work out. I have a Yamaguchi with a sloping top tube (54 effective w/73 STA). I can not move the saddle any more forward w/the current seatpost so I'm thinking the PD seatpost is a good starting point. Supposedly it will allow a 73 to equillerate up to a 78. Any input?

Thanks,
Cheers

I just got a new one off ebay for $22+shipping. I'll know next week. I'm putting it on an old road bike I'm fixing up.

The "forward" seat post will get you into a better aero position, so it's worth doing from that respect. However, you need to realize that your bike was not designed for such a shift of weight onto the front wheel, so it won't handle as well as a built-for-purpose TT bike. Still, it should work for what you want to do, as long as you're not doing any real technical (twisty, turny) bike legs of your races.

I got one two years ago for the exact same reason... but I could never get comfortable on it. I had to raise the seatpost a bit since I was more on top of the pedals- which increased my drop from seat to handlebars and at the same time (even with the profile bars) decreasing the distance from seat to handlebars.

For that reason, I was glad I bought the post at performance, to return the thing after the race. 100% satisfaction for any reason is a nice guarantee. :D
