View Full Version : Huge Landis Article in NYT fornaca68 08-18-2007, 10:19 AM http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/19/sports/playmagazine/0819play-floyd.html blackhat 08-18-2007, 04:05 PM landis really makes it difficult to hate on him. that article muddies the water for me more than his defense team did. he's either not guilty and is being jobbed or he and his wife are fairly gifted in the dark art of deception. bas 08-19-2007, 09:18 AM http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/19/sports/playmagazine/0819play-floyd.html Leave Greg Lemond alone. Floyd Landis is the joke. Page 3: "Landis handed me his computer. “Look, here he is,” he said. There, on the screen, was three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond, the legend before Armstrong became the legend, now silver-haired and in his mid-40s with a slight paunch. He was dressed in a black suit, seated in the witness box, speaking into a microphone. LeMond's words were mostly lost in the drone of the car engine, but that was O.K.: Landis wanted to narrate anyway. LeMond was “a joke,” he said. He was “pathetic.” LeMond “needs help, honestly.” And also: “I feel bad for the guy. What happened to him is horrible, but don't use that to make up lies about me.”" WalterJ 08-19-2007, 11:40 AM At this rate the man is going to serve a 2 year suspension regardless. Assumedly, some fine day, the USADA will reach a verdict. Depending on how it goes FL or UCI/ASO/WADA will appeal to the CAS. By the time that's all done the 2 years he'll be suspended will be up. I have my doubts about FL but this does strike me as unfair. Henry Porter 08-19-2007, 12:06 PM Leave Greg Lemond alone. Floyd Landis is the joke. I'd be pissed as hell too. lookrider 08-19-2007, 12:56 PM At this rate the man is going to serve a 2 year suspension regardless. Assumedly, some fine day, the USADA will reach a verdict. Me too. With their lack of a single standard, their secrecy, and their vindictiveness, (Dick Pound), their general lack of openness, they blew whatever case they had against FL. snood 08-20-2007, 02:12 AM No way Landis has not doped. Spending 2 million dollars can make much doubt. Dont be confused about the lab. No matter which lab had done tests big money defense would have attacked it. I feel sorry for Landis wife losing her father, we all go through such tragedy. But Landis and most caught cyclists think they can make their own reality about doping charge. They cant. Should have taken Lemonds advice and admitted everything. He has taken a lot of peoples money for supporting a lie. BikinCO 08-20-2007, 03:32 AM No way Landis has not doped. And you do not have a problem with the way the LNDD lab ran the test and their inability to follow protocol, chain of command.........Sad............. I have problems with their testing procedure. I am a plant and soils scientist, have worked closely with labs for over 20 years and have been an avid cyclist and fan for longer. Any lab that uses white out is a joke. Other accredited labs said that they would have a problem with the proceudure and the results. snood 08-20-2007, 07:30 AM And you do not have a problem with the way the LNDD lab ran the test and their inability to follow protocol, chain of command.........Sad............. I have problems with their testing procedure. White out was used on summary document not sheet directly linked to sample. Reading through lab documents I was impressed with amount of correct entries for quality control parameters. Sample for Landis subjected to 1 Screen for steroids 2 Confirm for elevated ratio with repeats 3 Rescreen for steroids using confirm procedure 4 Check by isotope ratio MS 5 Tests 2 and 4 on b sample All show evidence of testosterone use Data from test 4 was loaded into new software. Show same results Other Tour De France samples tested with isotope ratio MS. Show results agreeing with tests above. Other lab chiefs testified results show evidence of testosterone use. |
