The Washington State HC/TT championship. I'll be going back again to try to improve over my time of last year. Last year, I ______, and then the____ and,______ and _____(fill the blanks with your favorite excuses) and so had my worse result of the season at this event.. I hope to redeem myself (to myself) by moving up in the finish order tommorrow..should not be hard. I only have to improve over DFL, my 'stellar result' of last year...Ugg. Look for an old fellow in a Z-Team kit..Say hello as you pass..

Hey Don, How did you do. I took the day off for family activities. My son went down and was fourth in Cat 4 in 25 minutes something. I had a nice race last year. Totally slacking this year. Did my last mountain bike race a couple of weeks ago. Also got pulled from a short track race. Its like a crit but on dirt. It now on to Mount Baker for the big hill climb. I just got signed up and the field is really big.

I did move upwards in the order from where I finished last year. Again, D Masters class was one of the largest categories in terms of numbers, and with Washington's catergory system, I do give away 13 years to the "youngest" D-Masters riders. I ran a 34:xx time, I can't find my time from last year. but I felt good and had fun. Next on my sched. it the Oregon St. HC at Larch Mountain and then in a few weeks, the Everest Challenge...check this one out..talk about tough...Dunno what came over me when I sent off my entry for this, but...

For some perspective, the first day's climbing alone looks to be equal to just over 4 times up Mt. Baker, or almost 5 Montezuma hillclimbs. And then on Sunday, you have 3 more big climbs of 13,500'..for a total of 29,230', the same as Everest's elevation.
Billed as the most difficult 2 day USCF race, I will be looking at any finish as a victory..
