Hey there, thanks for checking in.

I have a spare set of Ksyrium Elites hanging in the basement and was ready to part with them but suddenly thought they might go well on my CX bike. The wheels that are on my bike now have worked great so far but they’ve been in use for some time now and I suspect will collapse one of these days. They’re heavier than the Elites but again, have stayed true and reliable thus far.

My question is this; I weigh 170lbs (at most) during CX season and drop to around 155lbs at the peak of riding season. It happens every year and I know it’s a big fluctuation but what can you do when you become a couch potato in winter? Anyway, would the Elites hold up to my 170lbs carcass beating them around the rough roads and trails? Would they survive as well as my current Spinergy wheelset or fold like a newspaper under the strain?

I’m by no means a hardcore masher when it comes to CX riding but slide in somewhere mid to mid-upper pack. Any experienced Ksyrium CX user advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reading.

Do I go Ksyriums or run the Spinergy’s to failure?

Ska!

They'll be fine. I weigh a good 15 lbs more than you and mine held up just fine last yr and they're about 7 yrs old.

I've been racing on Elites and Equipes for 5 years and never had a problem. Never had to true them either. 160 lbs. and 6' 1"

because if something happens to a K it takes awhile to get it fixed

I'm over 200 lbs and tore a spoke right through the rim wall
