My wife & I are flying to Davis CA to ride in the Foxy's Fall Century October 20th, but for a variety of reasons we cannot bring our own bikes. We're looking for a place within a 20-30 minute drive that rents decent road bikes. Already tried The Bike Barn, B&L Bikes, Freewheelers, and Ken's Bike & Ski (Ken's came close with their fleet of Raleigh Cadent 1.0's & 2.0's, but we were hoping for something just a bit more upscale if possible). Is there a shop near Davis that rents name-brand, lightweight, drop bar & brifter-equipped road bikes by the day?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Davis Wheelworks? It's a small town so it seems the shops would know best who rents the type of bikes you are looking for.

Try emailing the Davis Bike Club listserv for either advice or loaner bikes.

Sacramento is close enough to Davis that anyone in Sac with rentals would work. Try City Bicycle Works for starters.

Or Vacaville. Ray's (no website) 707-448-1911.
Or I have an 03 53cm Specialized Allez Elite that I won't be riding.
