I bought a Cane Creek S-8 headset for my GT ZRX cross bike. Upon taking out the old Ritchey Logic one, I discovered the height of the S-8 cup sleeve that fits inside the head tube is longer than the Ritchey one and what my frame appears to allow for.

I went to the web to look at headsets and they all seem to have the same size sleeve as the S-8. I searched this website and Googled what I think my problem is and didn't find any answer.

Am I missing a part or looking at the headsets/frame wrong? Could my frame take an obsolete headset that isn't made any more?

I figured it out. The S-8 headset fits fine. What confused me is that there is a trim piece on the outside of the head tube that happened to be the same width as the length of the Ritchey race cups. When I checked the inside of the head tube it was flush, hence no problem installing the new headset. :thumbsup:
