Last night, my lovely new custom Dean and I took a spill at the local practice crit. A gal clipped wheels with someone, and 1 or 2 guys went down about two people in front of me. As we were avoiding the wreck, someone clipped my rear wheel, pushed me into the curb, and I went down. I hit my head pretty hard, and my helmet is in several pieces. I have what feels like whiplash in my neck and a very sore right shoulder. Luckily, there was a lovely soft patch of grass on the other side of the curb, and I have no road rash. Everyone else was fine.

My brand new 10 speed Dura Ace crankset is pretty scratched up. A couple guys on my team mentioned that I might be able to buff out the marks, but they didn't elaborate o it. Does anyone know how to buff out the marks? I realize that I won't be able to get all the gouges out, but it would be nice if I could clean it up a bit.

Sorry, no photos right now. I was too tired and sore to take any last night.

Nope. They are anodized. The only way to polish is to remove the anodizing and then polish the scratches. It's a lot of work and then you need to keep polishing them to make them look good. I've done this with several components but I limit it to collector/special bikes because of the labor involved
