ok, I got a new bike...well not new, but new to me and it probably has less than a couple of hundred miles on it. It is a 1984 Trek 400 (12 speed....yada...yada.....Tange, mangalloy tubing, BEAUTIFUL shape, paint great, some chips but....

I was wondering if I should peel all the components off my Langster, and throw them on her. The down tube shifters are even clamp on, the spread on the rear dropouts is a tad larger but I could have it re-set, I could probably even get away with not changing the bottom bracket....

The dia-comp brakes seem to have enough adjustment to "reach" the rims on a 700C wheel.

One potential problem I can see is the bottom bracket height, 10.5 inches on the 400 vs 11.25 on the Langster..

Is it do-able?

OR....should I just get a new rear hub and convert this one?

edit: if it works out I will have a 52 cm Langster frame, fork, bars and brakes package for sale......

Is there something you don't like about the Langster? What does the Trek offer that the Specialized doesn't?

steel with curved steel fork vs aluminum with straight blade track fork?

I mean I could ride it as is, it is a nice bike in fine condition ....I rode it today, I like the frame a lot.
