I just bought a used diamond frame Pocket Rocket off of ebay. It is in great condition. I have one question. When I insert the steerer extension and tighten it down there is some twisting but it will not pull out. Is this normal? I spoke with Bike Friday and they recommend that I send it to them for inspection. What is your experience with the steerer head tube junction? Should some play be expected? I should also mention that I can only get the rotation when I hold the front wheel between my legs.

Thanks

There shouldn't be any twisting once the QR( or bolt) is tightned down..There is a little side to side play so you can line up the steerer extension with the fork but once it's tightened down, it should not move

not quite sure what you are asking... but, the stem can be a mutha to pull out. I usually never push it quite all the way down to facilitate easier removal.. and when removing I put my feet on the TT and grab it with both hands and pull

No something must be wrong. Post a pic of where it is rotating, perhaps. But you shouldn't feel anything rotate. If you are unsure, any good local shop should be able to tell you in 1 minute if anything is messed up.

Sorry but most LBS's aren't going to help with a Bike Friday.. The BF has a special stem set up...

BikinCO, take a picture and send it to Peter Berra at Bike Friday...He's been very helpful with mine

Thanks. I sent some pictures to Paul Atkins already. He said that he could not tell what was going on from the pictures. I will send them to Peter this morning.

Hey Dave, and I say this with the most respect, but I disagree. I have a couple bike Fridays, and all I am saying is that a good LBS could tell very quickly if it's something like a loose headset, a crushed binder, or something else that requires Bike Friday specific help. It's just not that complicated a set-up.
