Hello all,
Longtime lurker here....I plan on getting an production FG/SS bike this fall. I have my eye on the Pista.
What are some other off the shelf fixed gear SS bikes out there?
I"ll start with what I know.
Specialized Langster
Cannondale Track
Soma Rush
Fuji Track
I want to look at as many as I can. I prefer steel, but will look at all options.
Thanks for your reply,
Tim

There are plenty of threads like this one:
http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showthread.php?t=7975
which discuss a lot of the pros and cons of such bikes.
IRO Cycles make two nice cheap fixies
KHS Track
Bianchi Pista
Windsor The Hour - basically same as the Fuji
On One's Il Pompino
are a few others that come to mind.

Don't know alot about real "track" bikes, but I'll add a few "city" fixees to the list:
Surly Steamroller
Surly Crosscheck (ss/fix-able)
On-One Il Pompino
Rock Lobster (fixee model name?)
Van Dessell Country Road
Rivendell Quickbeam
Gunnar Street Dog
KHS?
Then there are the classic track bikes by Cinnelli, Pinarello, Schwinn, etc....
Lots more I'm sure.

Specialized Langster Pro
It is the dedicated track version of the Langster and worth listing since it really is a very different bike!
Also the Van Tuyl track bike.

Plus it looks like they're clearing out last year's frames too...

Thanks to all for the list. I'm still leaning hard towards the Bianchi and hope they come out with a conservative color. I just can't do the chrome.
Question: Can the rear bridge be drilled for a rear brake without compromising the strenght of the frame?
I plan on putting a front and back and running it as a SS commuter.

Not to tell you what to do, but why run SS when you can go fixed? Maybe I'm strange, but SS seems like it is in no-man's land... and you really don't need a rear brake if you go fixed.

The 2003 Pistas were Battleship grey; if you look around you may find one of them hanging around as new old stock. Before that they were matt black. Older models come up all the time on Ebay etc.

Fair enough question...
I've never ridden a fixed gear. I ride SS mountain bike almost all the time when I mountain bike (I have a geared MTB as well) and I ride a nice geared road bike. I absolutely love riding SS mountain bikes so I know I will at least enjoy the SS road side.
I can always flip flop, right?
