We took the office to Gaeta for a week. Gaeta is between Naples and Rome on the West coast. The town is typical for a coastal city with a fortress, narrow alleyways, and really nice people. This is my favorite Italian city.

Italy is unique in many ways. The old world meets modern conveniences. Use a bike to herd goats. The road was pretty nasty. IMO, the best wine comes from Italy. Here is Emma in a vineyard. Closeup of the grapes. A couple of old guys getting the fall harvest of white grapes.

I took that picture today. I heard the bells of a goat herd so I stopped for a picture. That goat just stared at me like he was going to jump the fence and come after me. I switched over to a 7M format since I was dealing with potential avatar material. Crop, resize, and voila, avatar. He wasn't part of the herd with the biker. This wasn't a mainland goat, this was a Sardinian badass goat.

My ship was there for a while in 1976 & 78 when I was in the navy.

I'd say even after all these years, Gaeta is still one of my favorite places on the planet.

Sardinia hasn't provided me with all the photo opportunities I had in Hawaii. Terrain and vegetation wise, Northern Sardinia is San Diego with Fiats. We leave Italy in about a week, I will post pictures of the Panama Canal and San Diego before I reach my new home in Poulsbo Washington.

Great Stuff Bill. I just got back from 16 days of exploring the area between Florence and Siena by bike and ended up on Elba for four days (now that was a tourist nightmare for biking. . .yikes. . .Germans in BMW's thinking the roads were the autobahn and me clinching my teeth). I've got something like 2000 pics I took and even scared myself when I downloaded them off the 4 GB chip. I want to have a post up by weeks end. By far the most awesome place I've ever explored or biked in. Unbelievably beautiful. I especially liked exploring all the back roads and small towns. Everyone was wonderfully nice and the old people thought we were hilarious in our spandex. Great fun all around.
