View Full Version : This is the major suXX()r.
I got an e-mail from the team president that our club will be disbanding at the end of the yr due to some infidels f%cking it up for everyone else and causing problems for the owners of the shop (who is the major sponsor). So, gots to find another team for next yr...there is an option, but I'm not too sure about it. So, anyone looking for a cat 4 middle aged cross/cat 5 road racer for their team in the Central PA area??

Dream Plus 09-25-2007, 03:19 PM Yellow Breeches? Harrisburg? There must be some club out there. Of course Central PA is pretty big.
allenpg 09-25-2007, 03:41 PM The brainchild of a former teammate and it would be the largest USA Cycling club if they got the name. Just think how many teammates you'd have in each race no matter which one you entered:

That's who I would likely switch to. They have A LOT of guys who race cross and most of them in my cat, so it would be a good place to go. World Cup ski and cycle cyling team will be defunct after Dec 31 2007.

"not a member, but it looks cool"
IT is a great ....... to be a part of IT. IT sort of can't be described in words....what HUP is. But IT is amazing.
dyg2001 09-26-2007, 05:01 AM what did the infidels do?
I don't know. "A small core of individuals were causing problems for the shop" was what I was told. Seems to be a case of killing the horse cuzz it has a bad leg, but then, that's typical in today's society.
I sort of checked out the site. What, exactly, is IT?
onrhodes 09-26-2007, 05:47 AM I invite you to join our club. On & Off Rhodes Cycling. It is currently my twin brother and I. Our last name is Rhodes and the On & Off is because we race/ride road, mtn, cross, etc.
Our philosophy is this.
1. No sponsorship on the jersey or shorts. Means we don't need new clothing every year just because the sponsor(s) changed. You may go for individual sponsor if you wish.
2. We are cyclists, not roadies, crossers or Mtn biker dudes. We ride because we love our bikes and the feeling it brings.
3. If you know your max/average watts, lactate threshold, etc better than your mom's birthday we are probably not the team for you.
Here is my twin brother with a friend of ours.

PM me or just reply here. I actually invite anyone to talk to me. Currently no membership dues, but that may change if the team starts to grow (and I mean more then 20 people). We just ask that you have the right attitude towards life and racing. We don't need some one who blows stop signs, rides down the middle of the road blocking traffic, and just is generally known as a "bad apple" by people. We want good people who like to have fun.
Thanks,
-Pete

"Hup United: Part Gang; Part Squad; A Lifestyle. In 2003, Hup United was born in Somerville, MA. The idea was CROSS and CULTURE. Simple. Hup is the anti-team comprised of Privateers, One-off's, and Stragglers. Over time, our kit would grow to represent our love for all things Belgian. During a race in 2005 in the deep, dank woods of VT, a group of Hup riders were rolling on the course, and a spectator turned to his friend and said, "Damn there are a ton of F'ing Belgians here today." This was a big step forward for Hup; this was essential. At the beginning of 2007, Hup is kitted in the NW, New E, MI, GA, TN, PA, the entire state of Canada, both CA's, IL, WI, MN and CO. You will see us up in the park; you will see us at the races. Your significant other will roll down the car window and tell us "Baby Blue, uh huh." Your local hood rat will tell us our "kicks is dope". You will find us. But until then, "One Hup Finds Another."
Thats about as close to describing IT in words as one could do (and I can't take credit for it)

To learn from more experienced riders. People to bounce ideas off of and people to hook up and do group rides with. Perhaps you helping to hand up bottles in road/mtb races and vice versa. The year end blow out!!!!!
From a tactical standpoint, I rarely see a lot of tactics being played out except for stronger 1/2 teams. So, this may not be a big factor for a cat4/5 racer, but having said that, having a teammate just go to the front and slow things down a bit while you are off the front is pretty basic and pretty doable.
SaddleBags 09-26-2007, 10:02 AM If you are close to any MABRA races - check out Gamjams.net. Mike has an idea of a team geared toward CAT5 - developmental squad. It's mostly a roadie site but has lots of cyclists that have "crossed"-over (pardon the pun). Check out his site for more details.
