I seem to be finding a lot of preassembled wheelsets with CXP22/23 rims then I do with Open Pros. I was hoping someone could outline the main differences as Mavics website doesn't do a good job at all.

Thanks

Hi!
Main difference is weight and height. OP is lower and lighter. CXP is not an "aero-rim", but a bit more V-shaped than the boxed OP-rim. The reason you find more CXP22 than OP is the price. CXP is a conciderable amount cheaper.

Edit - OP is 425g, CXP22 is 510g, both according to Mavic. And Tyops...again! Sigh... Again!

Rim height is 21mm for CXP-22 in a shaped I'll describe as a truncated cone (i.e. flat area at the tip). The OP is a modified box rim (raised up in the middle) with a height of 18.4mm. Weights are 425g for OP and 510g for CXP22. All data from Mavic web site.

You will find that CXP s will have a firmer ride and a little heavie as already mentioned - the open pro is lighter and has a softer ride but will require more frequent truing specially if you are on the heavier side like me.
