Hey there,

I'm looking to purchase a cyclometer to go on my Aprisa when I assemble it this weekend. What do you recommend?

I was going to get a Cateye Strada Cadence. I hate to run wires all over my new bike, but I hear cadence is worth it and the wireless ones burn batteries and can get flaky. I like reliability.

Any tips on making the wiring as sanitary as possible??

Garmin have these extreme bike computers. My buddy has one, cadence, heart rate, maps, laps, % grade, total climbed, the works. He can chart more stats set a route and compare times, rates whatever. We were freaking surprised a butt kicker of a hill we always hit was 16%.

Downside. Batteries won't last a full day, but they recharge and you can bring a charger based off of AA's for those long double centuries whatever.

price, it cost him at least $300, maybe $400.

Upside. No wires. Link your ride to google maps. You will know more about how you are doing, where you are going than you're going to know what to do with.

The only thing it lacks is a watt meter.

Me personally, not for me, too high a price, and I'm not that competitive / extreme. But someday when the battery life, and price come down I'm totally there.

I agree that wired with cadence is better. You won't even notice the wires after a week.

OK, so one recommendation to go batshit crazy with the Garmin (would love to, but its half the cost of my bike) and one to go the route I'm heading already.

Let's focus on wiring tips on the Aprisa. Any specific tricks I can do to keep the wires as concealed as possible?? The build starts tonight!

Any tips on making the wiring as sanitary as possible??Check out Sigma (http://www.sigmasport.com/us/produkte/bikecomputer/). We've been very happy with their products. They have basic bike computers starting from under $20 and wireless just over $100. Lots of other good brands out there too.

I like Cateye as far as computers. They aren't the fanciest, but they work well. It's possible to install the wired computers neatly with a little thought/experimenting.
