My neighbor as trying to true his Ksyriums the other day using the supplied wrench and he noticed the spokes twisted as he trued them. Is there a way to prevent this from happening or is this just something you have to live with when truing these wheels?

There should be a flat cylinder that has Mavic spoke-sized indentations on the outside, so you can hold the spoke and twist the nipple independently. The thing on the bottom.

You can use a special tool, or you can use pliers (with some cloth in the jaws to avoid scratching the spokes). Also, you can create the special tool by filing a notch in a piece of wood or plastic. You DO want to prevent spoke twisting.

you NEED to prevent spoke twisting. And if you think that plastic wrench will last, it wont. I will tell you right now you will strip it. You really need a metal one to do the job right. I true mavics on a daily basis and most of the time the plastic wrenches just strip out.

I used to put a stripe down one edge with a marker. As far as preventing windup goes, you can get rid of most of it by over-turning, then reversing.
