Hi all,

I have a pair of 420s (past warranty) with a busted rear hub. I love the wheels (better than my DA 7801s in fact), and would like to have them rebuilt at my LBS. I could try to order some American Classic hubs, but I'm thinking that I'd like to change to another hub that's better built.

Anyways, any recommends on hubs that would be good choices, 18 hole front, 24 hole back, and hopefully come in black? And, if I can't find replacement hubs in 18/24 holes, will I be able to get a good rebuild using hubs with more holes?

Thx in advance,

Bob

I have AC 420s too and like them a lot, but if one of the hubs broke, I'm like you and would look for something different. I have two sets of wheels with Niobium 30Rims, White Industries hubs, CXray spokes and they are probably better than the ACs in terms of ride quality, not as quiet as the ACs, but I think the hubs are better built. Mine are both silver, but they do come in black with the 18/24 setup you need. Zipp hubs also come in those drillings, but silver only. Either way, you will probably have to replace the spokes.

Cool,

I'll take a look at White Industries and Zipp, which are based nearby my home. I'll definately replace spokes (will probably have to anyways) with bladed ones.

I love the AC rims, and want to keep them, but with a better built hub.
