just upgraded my shimano wh-550's and hutchison top flight tires. i mounted a set of mavic equipes wrapped in mich pro 2's. rode it this moring and it felt sluggish getting up to speed and not as fast on the flats/downhills compared to the past set up. also when climbing out of the saddle it seems like the rear & front wheels are flexing and rubbing the brake pads (seemed to go away as i put more miles on).
what gives, both these products are supposed to better!

I'm a humongous hutchinson fan. that's a real bummer. sorry that happened.

More info??? Mich pro2s are very fast tires, maybe you are too heavy or something. They are only meant to go up to between 116-120 psi max.
I've also read about mavics sometimes having stiff bearings, check that out.

A recent report in Bicycle Quarterly on some tire tests reported that riders were not able to tell which tires were faster "by feel." Unless you have some reasonably specific numbers to compare, it may just be that you were expecting too much of an improvement, and now the minimal difference you felt was translated into "Gee, these feel slower."

Tires pumped up VERY high feel faster, even though they are not. Could that have been a factor?
Side note: The Shimano wheels you had were actually quite aerodynamic according to wind tunnel tests (as good or even better than many deep-v wheels!). Your new Mavics are not. The Shimano wheels also have a larger percentage of their weight at the hub than the mavics, so they might actually spin up easier in addition to being more easily moved along at speed because of the superior aerodynamics (see German Tour Magazine wheel tests amoung others).
Bottom line on Shimano VS Mavic: Shimano spends lots of engineering time/money on performance, and very little on cosmetic appeal. Mavic spends lots of time/mone on cool looks. Sorry.
