View Full Version : How hard to replace Campy Neutron rims?

I bought a set of used Neutron tubulars. I have two questions:

1. Overall the wheelset is true and hubs are fine, but I do see some slight stress cracks on each side of some of the spoke holes (front rim). They extend maybe 3-4 mm from the spoke holes and are of course parallel with the rim. You can barely see the cracks unless you hold them up to light in a certain way. I kinda doubt the rim would split in half, but any thoughts?

2. If I can get a set of replacement Neutron tubular rims, how hard would it be to replace the rims? Seems this wheelset uses assymetrical spokes and I bet tension is pretty high. Can any competent wheelbuilder do it? Are spokes Campy parts (forget it then) or are adequate substitutes available?

I had a pair of electrons with the similar problem but along several spokes on both wheels. New rims will most likely be more than what you paid for them. If they have hidden nipples you will need a tool for them.

I recently found a pair of electrons i need of bearings and a spoke and have all the spare parts i need.
