Hey Everyone!
This is my first post, but I've been taking it all in and have learned a lot just reading and seaching! I've ridden Mountain and BMX for along time but since I moved to the city I bought a single speed and love it!.

I have a Giant Bowery that I want to change the gear ratio on. The gear ratio now is 48-18. My origional plan was to drop from an 18 to a 16 tooth rear fixed cog but since I have a flip-flop hub would it be better to change out the chain ring for somthing larger so that I still have the same gear ratio using both the fixed or free side of the hub. Also does anyone know what the BCD is on the RPM cranks that come on the Bowery, Giant dosen't list it in the specs.

Thanks,

Eddie

If you don't get any answers here, try the Fixed/single speed forum. You'll probably get some good answers over there. Welcome to the forum!!

I don't have a single speed or a fixed gear bike, but I do know that they wear cogs faster than derailleur bikes. If it were me, I'd change the chainring. Smaller cogs wear faster.
