I've seen plenty of great reviews and feedback on the Lemond Sarthe and I'm considering ordering one. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find one to demo in my size or close to it. Based off the geometry compared to what I've ridden, a 51 will do it.

My questions are:
How much does the bottom bracket want to flex during harder efforts?
Would you consider the BB area to be stiff, flexible, or somewhere in between?

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Garbec: I ride a 53 Sarthe. The BB is probably somewhere between stiff and flexible. I can't claim many comparisons, though, because I have not ridden a lot of bikes. From those bikes I have tried, though, I don't notice any difference that I would complain about. I absolutely love the bike. I hope you get one. BTW, I also ordered my Sarthe without a test ride. No regrets.

the smaller the frame, the less frame flex is going to be an issue,

I'd imagine a light weight steel frame to be rather ideal for a smaller rider.

On the other hand, lightweight steel frames are not bullit proof either.

A good Carbon Fiber frame will likely last longer.
