So, realizing that my 40 year old upper body is in need of some serious training, I decided join psycho fit friend for a crossfit session. Well, just 18 minutes of training and I can barely lift my arms above my shoulders today. This is a good thing right?

The training was rowing on an erg followed by dips on rings (I only tried to get on the rings) followed by thrusters with 25 #'s in each hand.

I did it at the Eastside Crossfit gym in Redmond WA. I was really impressed with how they were able to tailor the workout to my needs to make sure I didn't overdo myself as well.

Even though I rock climb on a regular basis I'm lucky to pull off 5-6 pullups in a row. I know how to use my legs for rock climbing.

Back tomorrow for more pain. This is a good thing...right?

Cheers,
Mike

Climbing is great, but I agree it gives you a whole different type of strength. Bouldering, especially inverted cave type bouldering, is a great workout though - tons of core.

I haven't tried crossfit, but have heard great things.

Well, made it half way thru today's crossfit 5X (400 m run, 15 20 " box jumps & 15 wall 12lb balls). I tripped on my 3rd set of box jumps and sprained my right hand index finger. It was a great workout though. Wished I could have finished it.

Workout was enough to get rid of soreness.

Yes, typing with one hand is a pain.

Cheers,
Mike
