It serve both parties right now to have a candidate "take one for the team" and go extreme right(left) to make the future frontrunners seem like the sane choice. Howard Dean did it for Kerrey.

Not my type. But Chelsea? Or how about Obama, he's hot! That would be a scandal, and I could write a book and make some big money out of the deal too.
Might be the only way he can get away from the attacks of the gay community for his recent gaffs.
