I was wondering if anyone knew of a non-soy non-artificial sweetener energy bar. I found some whey protein bars(detour, etc) but they all had artificial sweeteners. At this point I think im just gunna have to make my own.

Why on earth would an energy bar, which is supposed to supply carbohydrates, be artificially sweetened? Seems strange to me. Sounds more like somebody is trying to make their protein bar seem artificially high in protein. There are lots of bars on the market that rely neither on soy or artificial sweeteners. You could even eat real food (fig bars, dried fruit, mixed nuts, etc.).

I would recommend RAW Organic Food Bar. They are sourced out of Fullerton, CA and I think all Whole Foods carry them. www.organicfoodbar.com I especially love the chocolate coconut flavor.
Here's the nutrient breakdown.
200 Cal
10g Fat (3g Sat fat, but it's from coconut oil which is actually good sat fat...and some from the cashew butter which could go either way)
3mg sodium
25g Carb (2g fiber, 17g sugar)
9g Protein
No Gluten, Refined Sugar, Dairy, Soy, Peanuts, or GMO.
Taste great and don't get hard in cold temps.
I think they are good for the middle of a long ride to keep the fat and protein up and to put something in your stomach. They are a little heavy on the fat side for using them all by themselves or for eating more than one or two, but work great with a banana or two, or some gookinaide or succeed.
That said, you could just make your own from dates, cashews, oats, etc. It's not too hard, but is a little messy and I haven't found a way to make them travel well yet.
Or just a bag with some figs/dates and a banana or two would suffice...along the lines of what Kerry said...
