View Full Version : TRP Top mount lever parts?

Crossers,

I have a pair of TRP carbon top mount levers, and have an issue. Where the cable exits the lever (going to the brake itself) there is an insert ( I think it's a ferrule, but could be mistaken) that allows you to turn it to tweak the cable tension. I have managed to break one of these off and cannot find a replacement. I have inserted a cable stop for now, but the cable doesn't pull cleanly and I'd like to get a better solution and any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

If it's the threaded part, it's a barrel adjuster. The cable stop to which you refer is a ferrule. Any well-stocked bike shop should have replacement barrel adjuster for about $5. If you're not handy, it should take a half-competent mechanic about 5-10 minutes to install, depending on how many times he gets interrupted, or depending on where the adjuster broke and how hard it is to get the old one out.

Usually, you can use one from an old caliper brake, rear derailleur, MTB brake lever of shifting pod. Just check for same thread size.

I was hoping that i could substitute a barrel adjuster from somewhere else and based upon this response, I'll gather a few and see if I can get lucky, I hate taking the thing apart if I'm not 100% confident it will be better than before I started! ;-) So long as it's ready to race on Saturday!

Thanks!
