So I've just acquired a badass full carbon frame that is completely devoid of any decals or paint, leaving nothing but bare carbon. I' think I've decided on building up the bike with Ultegra SL partly because I don't deserve D/A and also because the "Ice" look I think would look killer on this bare carbon frame. Haven't seen hardly any pictures of the stuff fully built up though, anyone have a bike with Ultegra SL they'd like to share with me?

http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/images/im_ice_2100.jpg You should maximize the window you view this in. And for anything other than the highest resolution screens, the pic still won't fit. (With Internet Explorer (if it's configured to autosize images to the window, sweep your mouse through the bike to the lower right corner and click on the icon that (may) pop up. That will show the pic at full resolution, which may be larger than your screen - so you have to scroll to see it all.)
For the bike's specs, see http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/immortal_ice_08.htm

Lots of additional photos here. (http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/images/immortal_ice/) I saw a Trek at the LBS today with that group and I think the "Ice Grey" color is really nice. Looks better than most of the other groups out there.

i love it... while every bike is headed down the carbon path and carbon gruoppo its nice to see someone still stick with a very well made alloy groupo... the ice grey color is gimmicky but atleast they did make it light and sexy in color...
i honestly would get this over dura ace... ive been a fan of ultegra for the longest.. dont feel bad if i drop it or scratch it.. and it takes a beating.. and its fairly lightweight

I'm also looking into getting Ultegra SL group for my next build. Everything just makes sense with this kit. Price, weight, looks. :) Perhaps durability as well.
Here's one from Carl Strong's gallery, pics are a little small, but the SL looks good on a ti frame: http://strongframes.com/the_buzz/gallery/?get=usergallery&details=1&ID=141.

hmmm painted cranks are a bad idea IMO.
very similar to the 'century grey' on centaur campy did a while back... yeah.... they quit that real soon... scuff marks on dark painted cranks look AWFUL.

I saw one at RA in brooklyn yesterday, on either a pin, or cervelo. It looks pretty sweet. but the tone of the finish isn't going to coordinate very well with many colors from a "decorative" point of view. the darker grey tone of DA is far more suited to coordinating with all finishes and colors.
man, is this gay...
