A local bike forum, Mpls Bike Love, here in the Twin Cities has a on-going game called Photo Tag. Somebody takes a picture of someplace inside the 494/694 loop (our equivalent of the DC beltway). Rules state you must ride to the photo sites and the picture must include your bike. Mid day Friday somebody posted up this pic

I saw it mid day Friday from my desk at work and thought...I know exactly where that is, it's going to turn fast. I checked just before leaving for home and it had not turned. Got home, it still hadn't turned. Went to bed, got up Saturday AM, it still hadn't turned. I thought I should go get it right now. I soon as I have the thought my wife yells, "I'm off to the gym....help your daughter with her homework". Well, things don't go so good on the homework front and we don't finish until about 4:00. I wouldn't make it back before nightfall. It's been more than 24 hours and surely somebody going to get this easy tag any moment. I check it before hittng the sack.....still not turned. I wake up Sunday, extra refreshed from all that daylight I saved. First thing I do is check the tag....IT'S STILL THERE!!!!. Into to the bike gear and down the road I go. I don't check the map, I don't print the picture...I know EXACTLY where it is. I ride to the EXACT spot....it's not there

A little flabergasted now...I begin a slow cruise in seach of my quarry. After circling the neighborhood like a thief casing the joint I think I find the right angle on the smokestack. But now, I am full of doudt about what the picture looked like and where the smokestack was in relation to the road and houses. After all, I knew EXACTLY where it was before. I take the shot, but sure I'm going to get home and find I bagged the wrong target.

Here's my shot.

Bagged it after all. :biggrin5:

Here’s a few more shots I took while tag hunting, including another bronze person trivia contest (hey Dave Hickey, you can get this one). This first picture is my new tag, others have to hunt it down for their own excuse to get out and ride.

I think so, I don't think he's ever been full time at it. I see his craftmanship around on the road every now and then, but his style is such that it could be 10 weeks old or 10 years old and you wouldn't know.

O.K. I'm dying here.

Who is depicted in the statue?

No, it's note cards. So much of the man's legacy is images of him standing pensively cluching his note cards that it made it into the statue.

I can see it now, people are Goggling "Minnesota Miracle" and somebody gonna reply with it's the 1971 School Super who spearheaded the funding model for Minnesota School Distrcts (called the Minnesota Miracle).

Well....put that idea on ice, that's not it.

Weren't you? I'm pretty damn cynical but the Miracle on Ice even got to me.

Its Herb Brooks, coach of the 1980 US hockey team.

Hockey?

HOCKEY?!!?

"I went to a boxing match and a hockey game broke out"

That sport?

Might as well be roller derby.

Pshaw

BTW I went to a couple of Anaheim ducks games and was amazed at how fast the players and the puck moved. Still the best part of the game was watching the winner of a halftime (thirdtime?) contest try to drive the Zamboni.
