I've been lurking in forums trying to figure out which road bike would serve me well.
I stumbled across the Forge CTS 1000 with almost the same configuration of the IBEX Classic 3300.

I haven't been able to find trusty reviews on the Forge CTS 1000 and then heard about the reputation on IBEX bikes. The CTS 1000 is about 40-50 USD cheap than the 3300, but I don't like the yellowish frame colour on the 3300.

I want the bike to serve me as training as I intend to compete in some races next year (XC, not on road) and I met new people in my town to ride, but they already own a road bike.
I'm torn in which bike to choose.

I live outside US, but the bike will be shipped within the US and then I go to pick it up personally (Laredo, TX)

Any ideas? I like the Forge CTS1000 and the fact that Forge frames are made supposedly in the same factory Giant manufacture their frames.

Thanks

According to the Forge website, the only place to buy this bike is Target. What are you going to do for warranty/tech support issues?

I would be reluctant to purchase a bike assembled and supported by a budget department store IMHO.

Also it only comes in one size. Are you sure this frame is going to fit you?

Of course neither of those bikes are CX.

Post back with your decision.

Good luck.

I have seen both and the difference is Night and Day!

The Ibex shows like a road bike that has some lower end components to make it affordable.

The Forge shows like a Kids Dept Store Bike that they slapped Sora on to sell it for as much as they can.

I would go with the Ibex...I have read some decent things about the Forge, but I have seen the Ibex...I own one as well in a MTB. And customer service is invaluable...and the guys at Ibex are top notch in that category and they build a great bike. Good luck

i would also go with the ibex 3300.
you will get better customer service from ibex because all they do is make and sell bikes.
plus it looks like a nice bike, i have seen pictures of the 3300 in the forums.
i saw the Forge CTS 1000 at target and i was not so impressed, but i am sure it is a perfectly good bike, i just think the ibex is better...it is kinda blinding me...but at least you will never lose it.
