I haven't seen news of a contract for Horner. I did see this off-hand comment in CN, indicating he's definitely gone from Lotto, "D'Hollander, 33, signed for one year and takes the place of Chris Horner." http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/nov07/nov08news2

So where's he going?

Here is a thread from another forum, discussing the newest Rock rumors.

I heard that, too. Seems like quite the slap in the face. Yeah, they got him Popo. But he sure sounded like he wanted Popo in addition to Horner not instead of him.

I thought Evans really wanted him.

I'd love to see Horner pop a hilly Classic, although I'm not holding my breath.

Ditto on both points.

Ironic. Didn't Horner make some negative comments about Disco during or immediately after the 2007 Tour?

I believe his comments were directed more towards LA than Brunyeel. Hopefully the team doesn't blowup like they have the last two years.

Good for him. I still think it's really weird that the Kazakh govt. thinks it's worthwhile to sponsor a cycling team with the country's top riders sitting out doping suspensions. I guess they've got so much oil money they don't know what to do with it...

As for the team, well, if JB keeps it together, they'll be ok. Horner is one of my favorite U.S. riders.

Plus, with him and Levi, there won't be any fighting over the hairbrushes...

I think its a great move by Horner and i am very happy for him. By watching the Velonews videos at the TDF, he became one of my favorite riders.

I always got the impression that he was never fully appreciated by Lotto and Cadel Evans.

I think he was totally appreciated by Cadel, I think it was Lotto.. I hope he has a super year! I too, would love to see him win a hilly classic.. I bet Cadel is really pissed with Lotto mgt. on this one..

According the CN (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2007/nov07/nov17news), Lotto "...offered a salary one-third of what all the riders of his level in the Tour recieved which prompted him to look elsewhere."

His efforts at the TdF, on behalf of Evans, netted him 15th overall. He seems to have used that as his main bargaining chip. I don't know what salary he'll get from Astana, but it would seem he handled himself as well as a professional could do, coming right down to the wire and eventually signing with an outstanding team.

Good on ya, Chris!

Oh boy, Astana is smokin with talent now.

All 3 grand tour podium targets is highly a possibility if Savoldelli and Kloden stays, given the people they recruited.

Contador, Leipheimer, Horner, Gusev, Chechu, Noval, Brajkovic, Kloden, Savoldelli... WHOA....
