Katie Compton, head honch as it pertains to women's cyclocross, and now, she's not just ruling the US, but ruling on the world stage. I think this places her firmly in the lead for world cup, and possibly on top for UCI points.'

Remeber when some US racers were whining that she didn't race enough as the national champ?
It's great to see her on top.
I joined my first MTB team (years ago) and doing some group training rides thru the woods and saying to myself - "I can't let that girl beat me!" Little did I know she would go on to become the Super Power Katie Compton.

Indeed I do. I also remember that women's racing is a little tough hierarchy to break into at times. They can be excessively catty, especially when they race all year, and someone like Katie Compton rolls into the national championships, starts in the back, and then smokes everyone. I haven't seen a woman dominate cross in the US like that since the Alison Dunalp days. I saw her race at the national championships in 1998 outside of Boston, and it was outright laughable how easily she beat everyone else. Compton, on most days, seems to have that same stuff, and more. I remember seeing her race in the mid-atlantic back in my mountain bike racing days, she was pretty darn fast then as well.

it looks like she's back atop the UCI points comp. or will be when they recalculate.
it's a bummer she and van den Brand don't line up together more often. Next week will be a worlds preview. Sounds like it's the last the two will see of each other until then.
