View Full Version : Anyone purchased from Colorado Cyclist recently?
djgonzo 11-13-2007, 07:56 AM I'm going to purchase a road bike build kit from them as I can't seem to beat their prices on ebay or anywhere else. Has anyone ordered from them recently? I beleive the last time I ordered from them they gave me a coupon for 10% off my next order. That order was awhile ago so I was wondering if anyone else had a coupon from a recent order they wouldn't mind sharing?
Thanks,
DJ

Have you looked at Excel? The are a LBS for me, but I've heard many say they have much better customer service than CC.

Really? I have never had a problem with CC, but I've never known their prices to be ultra competitive on components.

Check out their build kits. I can get full Ultegra SL with Easton Circuit wheels, FSA, headset, bars, stem, seat post, michelin pro 2 race tires, and everthing else needed to build the bike for $1123. The only other online retailer that gets close is GVHbikes.com but that's for standard Ultegra not SL and they're $160 above CC.
I purchased a full Ultegra group from my LBS last year and the group alone was $1200 installed.
Further, trying to get everything new on ebay would come out to more than $1123 w/out a warranty or the ability to swap out or exchange pieces. I've ordered from CC before and was satisfied.
I was primarily wondering if anyone had a coupon for them. I know they generally don't have them but thought I received one with an order I placed at the begining of the year.

Most coupons are generally not good for full bikes

I just priced out an Ultegra SL build kit with Excel and they're about $300 above Colorado Cyclist. Naturally there are some variances in handlebars, stem, seatpost, and saddle but I'm not sure the ones they're offering are any better than the FSA stuff from CC.
Do you know if they price match?

Dunno...worth a call though.

Called, they don't price match at least not on build kits.
Still looking for a coupon from Colorado Cyclist if anyone has one from a recent order.

I think the CC and Excel are very similar.
I haven't had any issues with them.
However, I usually go with Excel because CC doesn't accept American Express and AX is only credit card I have/use.

I have recently ordered from CC and used my AMEX.

I guess they just don't post AX option in their website.
I just bought a Assos FI.13 - S2 bib yesterday (on sale for $199) and it only gave the payment options of VISA/MC......

I just ordered some Assos Bib Tights from them for this Winter. Easy transaction with the new cool website.
As for not being able to find a less expensive road bike build kit on eBay have you checked out these eBay ID's? EUROBIKEPARTS, PROCYCLINGDISCOUNT, EZBIKEDEALS, IBIKENAKED. All these Sellers are in my favorites list. Ususally one of them has what me or my friends are looking for when we need it at a bargain price.
FondriestFan 11-14-2007, 06:11 AM I purchased a full Ultegra group from my LBS last year and the group alone was $1200 installed.
Holy smokes. I hope you at least got a reach-around.

Nope, what a rip off right? Since then I only shop online no matter how much I like the LBS.

Maybe that included a build kit (ie pedals, bars, saddle, tape etc)? --otherwise they charged him $500 or so to install which is ridiculous. :cryin:

Wondering which store/online did you get all of these at that price ?

No it was for the Group and install alone. I also had him install a new set of bars and a seatpost but I bought them off ebay.
Where are you getting your pricing from? Only ebay has prices as cheap as your suggesting. My mistake was to go to the LBS in the first place as I was going to purchase online. I also took the LBS at his word that he'd give me a much better deal than I thought. I expected the total to come to $800 or $900 max. Oh well, lesson learned.

dakila 11-15-2007, 11:55 AM I've been shopping around for build kits as well and found CC to be lower than anyone else. There's a lot of better deals on line for just the group, but for a whole build kit that includes seatpost, headset, tires etc, CC has been the lowest I can find. Even when looking at buying sale items form different dealers, the total package still comes out to be higher than CC's complete bike build kit. You get everything you need to put a bike together on CC's build kit except for frame. The fork is optional and at a 25% discount. I'm looking at their Chorus with Easton E90 SLX wheels for $2046. If anyone can bit that, I sure would like to know. Otherwise I'm going with CC especially if I can find a 10% coupon like the OP asked about.

Our local shop that I ride for can beat that price by like $125. What are the exact components you want as configured on the CC website? You can PM me and I can use my team discount to help you out.

djgonzo 11-15-2007, 10:57 PM I went with GVH Bikes and their Campy Centaur build kit. Came out to be $40 more than CC ultegra kit but better spec'd. By the way Tom at GVH was very knowledgeable and a huge help.
dakila 11-16-2007, 08:56 AM GVH has got some good prices but Colorado Cyclist still has them beat. So anyone have the 10% coupon fo CC?
