Actually, mine shifts quite nicely. My issue is more chainline related. On the smaller chain ring and near the bottom of the cassette the chain rubs on the inside of the larger chain ring...

cheers,
scottIf you're running 10 speed and a compact the top 2 sprockets on an 11 up or the top 3 on a 12 up cassette will make the chain catch on the outer ring's pick up teeth. It's normal. The problem is not as big on a standard drive chainset (53/39) as the angle the chain comes off the inner ring is slightly less acute.

Nicely done. It is a compact. It's not a big deal as that's not a combination that I'd normally be in anyway. Thanks for the info...

Which 2008 Speccy comes with Fact cranks and a compact spider? Rubbing in the highest gears comes with both standard and compact rings. Some FSA rings on smaller frames are really, really bad.

Regardless, I'm referring to the '08 Fact cranks, standard spider, and standard SWORKS rings.

All of the '08 Tarmac Pro's come with Fact cranks. I have a Tarmac Pro Compact. Not sure if there's a difference between the Fact cranks labeled S-Works vs. those labeled Specialized or not.

.

All of the S-works Roubaix's come with a compact S-works Fact carbon crankset. The non S-works Roubaix Pro, and Tarmac Pro Compact come with compact Fact carbon cranksets.

What's the difference between the S-Works and non-S-Works? Chainrings?

Not really sure to be honest. Specialized doesn't have any tech info for their cranksets on their site that I can find. I sent the question to the specialized tech support folks, hopefully they'll get back.

The only other tech info I've found was related to the bolt circle sizes of 110mm for the compact and 130mm for the standard. Some mention was made that the S-Works version is only made for the oversized BB standard used on the S-Work model frames. No other differences between the S-Works version vs the standard Fact version were mentioned.

Cool stuff. Thanks for the post. Should mention that the Fact cranks on the Tarmac Pro also use the oversized BB (or BB30) standard bottom bracket. I do know that there seem to be S-Works variant chain rings and "normal" chain rings for sale on the Spec web site. Those S-Works rings are focking expensive!
