I upgraded my bike from Sora triple-8spd to 105 triple-10spd, so have all of the OEM Sora drivetrain components in a box. Are these even worth bothering to try to sell on eBay? It's really not worth it to me to sell something for $5 or $10, which doesn't IMO pay for the hassle of listing and shipping it.
I'll definitely list the shifters since they're the upgraded STI-style ST-R500s, but I'm thinking that I'll probably not bother with the derailleurs, cassette, etc. What do you think?

Sort of like an arse for every seat. some guy out there has an old bike and wants to upgrade the 5-6 to a 8 w/STI, $100+ for the whole setup? Why not try the classifieds here? $2?

I'd sell it as a group, especially since your choice for the parts you don't sell is do nothing with them.
Someone will want them as a rain bike build.
Heck, maybe even you. It is pretty easy to score a free, or $10, oldschool frame with shot components. Just a thought.
Otherwise, I think a full 8-spd sora group could get a hundred bucks on the 'bay, or a bit north.

The ST-R500's are pretty good units, about 105 level. There are a lot of people out there with 8 speed STI setups with shot shifters. Until Shimano made these available, there wasn't much choice except to can the whole 8 speed drivetrain. So they're worth something. As for Sora....well.

I'd keep all of it. build up a commuter or cx bike or something.

Not a bad idea. I've even got the original Alex wheels that came on my primary bike...
$5 or $10 isn't much, but at least it builds up your feedback rating so that people won't hesitate to bid when you're selling $500 items.

great minds think alike.
keep the parts. find a used cross frame and use it on that. i did that with an RSX gruppo, when i upgraded a bike with 105/ultegra stuff. i found a nice cx frame on ebay, and built it up with what i had.
