View Full Version : Weight of the S9 Matta Titanium??? whitty 12-05-2007, 05:57 AM Anyone know the weight of this frame?? jcolley 12-05-2007, 11:50 AM Wish I could help, but I'd have to strip my bike sown to weigh it. I'll look around and gather some component weights and backwards calculate for you when I get a chance though... Jim fabsroman 12-05-2007, 05:50 PM That doesn't work for some reason. I weighed my Colnago Cristallo frame and fork before I built it up. Did the same thing with my Colnago Arte frame and fork. Then, I made up a spreadsheet about what the bikes should weigh when I was done based upon what the manufacturers listed component weights at, and I even weighed all the spokes, rims, and nipples I was using to build the wheels so that I could have those weights correct (i.e., I couldn't find weights on them). Somehow, both bikes came out about 300 grams heavier than what I had on my spreadsheet. I didn't weigh the cables and the housing, but can they really weigh 300 grams? Oh yeah, I didn't enter a value for the tubular glue either, but can that really add that much weight to the bike? Now I'm going to have to go and weigh a tube of glue and then wait until I use an entire tube so that I can subtract the weight of the empty tube from it. I never should have looked at this thread. os72 12-05-2007, 09:48 PM According to the listing (http://weightweenies.starbike.com/listings/components.php?type=cables) at Weightweeinies forum weighs a Shimano cable set over 200 grams out of the box. /os72 fabsroman 12-05-2007, 09:55 PM Okay, that post made me go out into the freezing garage and weigh a Campy cable set still in the box. In the box, it weighs 311 grams. So, I would guess something like 250 out of the box. Between the cut down cables and housing, and the tire glue, I think I just found the 300 grams that I had been wondering about. |
